SAVANNAH, GA – Safe Shelter, a leading local nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating domestic violence and providing support to survivors, proudly announces the appointment of four distinguished individuals to its Board of Directors. These new board members bring a wealth of diverse experience and a shared passion for creating a safer community.

The newly appointed board members include:

Dennis T. Jones, Director of Chatham County’s Emergency Management Agency

Candace Blyden, Assistant District Attorney for the Special Victims Unit of the Chatham County District Attorney Office

Quin Peterson, Realtor at Realty One Group Inclusion

Arnold Rose Munoz, Realtor at Keller Williams Realty

Safe Shelter is confident that the addition of these accomplished individuals to the Board will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. Their collective expertise and commitment align with the core values of Safe Shelter, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and providing comprehensive support to survivors.

As Safe Shelter continues its tireless efforts to create a community where domestic violence is eradicated, the organization looks forward to the innovative ideas, strategic insights, and fresh perspectives that these four individuals will bring to the Board.

About SAFE Shelter’s Newest Board Members:

Dennis T. Jones:

Dennis T. Jones, appointed as Chatham EMA’s Director in 2017, is an accomplished emergency manager with extensive experience spanning 28 years of Incident Command and Emergency Response. In an emergency management capacity, Mr. Jones has coordinated response and recovery to a myriad of emergencies and disasters.

In addition to his current emergency management responsibilities, Mr. Jones has previously served on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hurricane Liaison Team which provides guidance and liaison between the National Hurricane Center and Emergency Management Agencies. Mr. Jones is a Nationally Certified Emergency Manager, a Georgia Certified Emergency Manager and a Certified Professional Emergency Manager. He is a graduate of Saint Leo College and holds a BA in Business Administration.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jones has also developed and delivered numerous training courses, exercises and programs including the establishment of procedures dealing with hazardous materials, contractor safety and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Jones has received the President’s Award for Meritorious Service from the Emergency Management Association of Georgia and was honored for Exceptional Humanitarian Efforts by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. He has served as Vice President of the state-level emergency management organization as well as various other boards and committees.

Candace Blyden:

Candace Blyden, Assistant District Attorney in the Special Victims Unit at the Chatham County District Attorney Office. I’ve been with the Special Victims Unit since 2021. Blyden is responsible for prosecuting cases involving domestic violence, children, elderly persons, and serious violent felonies. Additionally, she currently serves as the chairperson for the Savannah Domestic Violence Task Force.

Quin Peterson:

Bringing an extensive 14-year background in dedicated advocacy for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Quin Peterson offers a wealth of experience to the SAFE Shelter Board. She has played pivotal roles, from spearheading the NO More campaign at Valdosta State University to serving as a Board Member of the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living while stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration, Quin holds a Mass Media and Communications degree.

As a licensed Realtor, Quin’s ability to navigate the complexities of the real estate market positions her as a valuable asset in addressing housing-related challenges those seeking refuge and support face. Through her advocacy and real estate acumen, Quin brings a holistic approach to the mission, fostering lasting change in the lives of individuals, families, and the broader community.

Arnold Rose Munoz:

Arnold Rose Munoz is a Realtor currently affiliated with Keller Williams Realty, where he has been making significant strides since joining in 2020. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Arnold has consistently secured a position among the top 20% of sales for the past two years, showcasing his dedication to delivering unparalleled service to his clients. His proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution ensures that each real estate transaction is not only successful but also characterized by a seamless and transparent experience for his valued clients.

Beyond his thriving real estate career, Arnold has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service. From 2020 to 2022, he served as a Charity Board Member for a Wounded Veterans Charity Campaign during his time at Armstrong State University. In December 2022, Arnold took on the role of Fundraiser Organizer for Renegade Rescue, a testament to his passion for making a positive impact. Organizing and leading a successful fundraiser allowed him to channel his commitment to community welfare, providing valuable support to a cause close to his heart. As he continues to excel in the real estate industry, Arnold remains dedicated to his values of excellence, compassion, and community service.
