ALBANY, Ga. (Feb. 27, 2026) — The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (ADEDC), in partnership with the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and 4C Academy, proudly announced Whiff Works as the first-place winner of the 2026 FLEX (Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneurial eXperience) Competition Finals, held Friday, February 27th at 4C Academy.
The annual competition showcases student entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership, challenging participants to develop real-world business concepts and present them before a panel of community and business leaders.

This year’s finals featured three outstanding student-led businesses demonstrating innovation, creativity, and strong entrepreneurial vision.
Whiff Works, developed by Jonavan Jackson, Christopher Hoffpauir, and Mathew Peters, is an innovative deodorant dispenser system designed for school restroom facilities. The concept promotes freshness, confidence, and improved daily experiences for students while addressing a practical need within school environments.
“Today’s competition demonstrates the incredible talent and entrepreneurial mindset being developed right here in Albany-Dougherty,” said Jana Dyke, President & CEO of ADEDC. “These students are not only learning business fundamentals, they are building confidence, leadership skills, and innovative solutions that represent the future of our workforce.”
Chris Hatcher, CEO of Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy and President of the 4C Foundation, added, “FLEX gives our students the opportunity to turn their ideas into real opportunities. Watching them learn and grow through this process is exactly why we love FLEX. Programs like this are so important as we prepare tomorrow’s leaders.”
FLEX introduces students to entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and real-world economic development concepts while strengthening the region’s long-term workforce pipeline. The program connects education, industry, and community leadership to ensure students gain practical experience beyond the classroom.
The first-place winner will now represent Albany-Dougherty at the Georgia FLEX State Competition on April 14 in Tifton, competing against top student entrepreneurs from across the state.
