Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for area seniors, has received several grants which will allow further growth of their Meals on Wheels program to serve additional seniors in our community.

“It is certainly our ultimate goal for every senior in our area to have the food they need to never be hungry,” said Patti Lyons, president of SCI. “The additional funding will allow us to add people who may not have qualified for the more restrictive grants we have which means we can further expand our services and take a big step forward to meeting that goal by providing additional meals, wellness checks and friendly smiles to even more older adults.”

SCI’s Meals on Wheels program currently delivers 2,000 hot, healthy meals each day to seniors throughout Chatham, Bryan, Liberty and Effingham counties. Since the start of the pandemic, the number has steadily risen.

If you or a loved one would like to see if you qualify for this new Meal on Wheels funding, please contact Jennifer White as SCI has revised the criteria to serve even more people.
