Senior Citizens Inc. Receives $10,000 Food Lion Grant to Support Hurricane Helene Recovery and Meals on Wheels
Savannah, GA – Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit dedicated to helping older adults age successfully, has received a $10,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation through its Hurricane Helene Relief Fund. The funding will be used to support Meals on Wheels, ensuring that older adults affected by major storms continue to receive nutritious meals and critical wellness checks.
“Natural disasters disproportionately impact older adults, many of whom rely on Meals on Wheels as their primary source of nutrition,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “Thanks to this grant from Food Lion, we can continue delivering hot meals and essential support to our clients during major weather events.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Food Lion for recognizing the urgent needs of our older adults and stepping up in such a meaningful way,” Lyons added. “This support not only provides meals but also ensures that our elderly neighbors receive a friendly face and wellness check-something that truly makes a difference in times of crisis.”
