Savannah, GA – As Savannah enters another season of extreme heat and humidity, Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) has launched its annual Fan Drive to help older adults stay cool, safe, and healthy during the summer months.

This year’s campaign is especially meaningful as SCI celebrates 65 years of serving older adults across coastal Georgia. As the region’s trusted expert in aging, SCI remains committed to helping people age successfully-with dignity, independence, and comfort.

The Fan Drive collects new box fans to distribute to older adults in need-especially those who do not have access to air conditioning or who struggle to afford increased utility costs. High temperatures can be dangerous for older adults, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other serious health complications.

“Something as simple as a box fan can make a world of difference to an older adult trying to stay safe in the summer heat,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “This program reflects our ongoing mission to protect and uplift the most vulnerable members of our community.”

How You Can Help:

  • Donate a new box fan by dropping it off at Senior Citizens Inc., 3025 Bull Street, Savannah
  • Make a financial donation at www.SeniorCitizensInc.org/fans to help SCI purchase fans for older adults in need
  • Spread the word by encouraging others to support the drive

Fan Pickup Information:

Eligible older adults may pick up a free fan at Senior Citizens Inc. on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Tuesday, May 20, 2025. To inquire about eligibility, please call 912-236-0363.

The Fan Drive will continue through August 29, 2025, or while supplies last.

SCI thanks the community for 65 years of support and for helping ensure that older adults in our region can age safely-even in the hottest days of summer.
