MIDWAY, GA — March 20, 2026 — Senior Citizens Inc. joined Midway leaders and community members Thursday, March 19th, to highlight the importance of Meals on Wheels and the role it plays in helping older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities.

The gathering at Midway Town Hall was part of the national March for Meals campaign, led by Meals on Wheels America, which raises awareness about senior hunger and the growing need for services that support older adults aging at home.

“Meals on Wheels represents the very best of what a community can do for its older adults,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “Every meal delivered provides nourishment, connection, and peace of mind for individuals who want to remain independent in their own homes.”

Following the remarks, Midway city officials joined the Meals on Wheels delivery team to personally deliver a meal to a Liberty County Meals on Wheels client.

“For many older adults, Meals on Wheels is about far more than a meal,” Williams said. “It’s a daily connection to the community and a reminder that people care. In communities like Midway, looking out for our neighbors is part of who we are.”

For more than 65 years, Senior Citizens Inc. has delivered Meals on Wheels throughout coastal Georgia. The organization recently reached a major milestone—delivering its 7 millionth Meals on Wheels meal.

Today, the program prepares and delivers approximately 1,800 nutritious meals each day to older adults across the region. In addition to providing nutrition, each delivery includes a wellness check and a friendly visit, helping ensure the safety and well-being of those receiving meals.

Meals on Wheels services from Senior Citizens Inc. support older adults throughout coastal Georgia, including communities across Liberty County such as Midway and Hinesville, helping ensure that older adults can remain safely in the homes and communities they love.
