SAVANNAH, GA – Savannah Speech and Hearing Center (SSHC) has been awarded a generous grant from the Georgia Trauma Foundation to implement a new high-definition video conferencing system for its weekly hybrid Speak Easy support group for stroke and other traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors.
The new system will provide high-quality audio and video for participants attending both in person and remotely, allowing members to more easily connect, communicate, and engage. This technology will expand access, strengthen participation, and enhance opportunities for trauma education and support for participants both near and far.
The Speak Easy support group offers a trauma-informed space for stroke and TBI survivors to focus on recovery, education, peer connection, and communication practice. SSHC has hosted a free, weekly stroke survivor support group since the 1980s. The group’s current facilitator has participated in the program throughout the past 13 years, helping guide meaningful conversation, encouragement, and connection among participants.
