Abshire PR CEO Jennifer Abshire, a Georgia Southern University alum, is also a member of GSU’s Parker College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board. This board met in mid October to talk about the soaring success of the Parker College and the many ways their students and faculty are making an impact.

Parker College of Business Dean Allen Amerson gave the board a very in-depth analysis of how his business students actually have the same demographics of the state of Georgia – very diverse, Danielle Smith, head of Parker’s Preferred Partner Program, showcased to the board the impressive number of Georgia companies that come to the College to recruit students! They are in high demand, especially in the accounting and logistics industries!

Danielle then introduced us to the current Parker Scholars, who are the top students in the College. Wow, talk about impressive! These students, who are from as close as Savannah or as far away as Germany, spent time with the advisory board and gave us their personal perspectives on how COVID has changed their life, why they selected GSU as their university, and their excitement to hit the real world.

What It Means to Be a Parker Scholar

Parker College of Business Development professional Chris Osborne shared with the board the great news that over $40,000 was raised at the 2022 Inaugural Gala, and plans for 2023 are already underway. The 2023 Gala will be held March 4, 2023 again at The Desoto Savannah and tickets are available for purchase now.

The Parker College Young Alumni Board and Dean’s Advisory Board helped sell out the event for 2022 by assisting in table sponsorships, silent auction items and personal donations. Well done!
