This week, Abshire PR was proud to accompany the Savannah Area Chamber on a planning trip to Nashville as they prepare for the next installment of their new LEADS series this September.
The Chamber’s LEADS initiative-short for Learn, Engage, Advance, Develop, Succeed-is a bold new effort designed to bring together Savannah’s business, government, and nonprofit leaders for immersive, idea-sharing trips to peer cities across the Southeast.
This spring, nearly 50 Savannah leaders boarded an Amtrak train for the inaugural LEADS trip to Charleston. The day was filled with expert-led panels, meaningful networking, and a powerful City-to-City discussion featuring Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and Charleston City Council Member Michael Seekings. Topics ranged from transportation infrastructure and workforce housing to sustainable tourism and preserving a city’s identity while managing growth.
Now, the focus shifts to Nashville. During this week’s planning visit, Chamber staff and partners explored venues, met with potential speakers, and scoped out key learning opportunities for the upcoming three-day, two-night trip. The September LEADS event will center around critical issues like tourism development, innovative childcare solutions, and creative approaches to transportation funding.
At Abshire PR, we’re excited to continue supporting this important initiative that helps shape the future of Savannah by learning from other thriving cities. Stay tuned… We can’t wait to share what’s next!
