BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – Colleton River Club, in partnership with Michigan State University, is proud to announce the return of the 13th Annual Colleton River Collegiate Charity Golf Tournament on March 2-3, 2025. This highly anticipated event will take place on the club’s renowned Pete Dye Course, bringing together some of the nation’s top collegiate golf teams for an exciting two-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament.
This year’s tournament features 16 top-ranked teams ready to deliver elite competition while continuing the event’s growing tradition of charitable giving.
2025 Tournament Field: Hosted by Michigan State University, the event welcomes a strong returning lineup alongside exciting new additions:
- Returning Teams: Defending champion Georgia Southern University, Indiana University, the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, Ohio State University, Penn State University, Rutgers University, the University of Missouri, the University of Cincinnati, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Memphis University, and the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga.
- New to the Field in 2025: Wake Forest University (ACC powerhouse) and East Tennessee State University (Southern Conference Champions).
About the Pete Dye Course at Colleton River: A stunning blend of challenge and beauty, the Pete Dye Course at Colleton River Club is a links-style masterpiece featuring small undulating greens, pot bunkers, and breathtaking views of Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. This championship course has played host to major tournaments, including the South Carolina Amateur, US Amateur Qualifier, US Open Qualifier, and the 2015 US Junior Amateur Tournament. The course’s legacy even extends to Hollywood, having served as a filming location for Robert Redford’s “The Legend of Bagger Vance.”
A Growing Tradition of Charitable Impact: The CR Collegiate is one of the few Collegiate Charity Golf Tournaments in the country, and helps to provide food, shelter, and medical care to those in need in the low country. Proceeds are distributed through the Colleton River Collegiate Fund at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, a 501(c)(3).
A Legacy of Excellence: Founded in 2013 by Colleton River Club members Al and Willa Thiess, the Colleton River Collegiate was created as an opportunity to give back to Michigan State University and the sport of golf. Over the past 12 years, the tournament has evolved into one of the premier collegiate tournaments in the United States, consistently drawing top-ranked programs and future professional stars.
