MACON, GA — Central Georgia Cancer Care, the only oncology practice in the state with both QOPI® and ASCO accolades, is excited to announce the recent promotion of Lori Stuckey, RN BSN to Clinical Nurse Director. In this new role, Stuckey manages over twenty nurses and several injection medical assistants. In addition, she oversees the management for the infusion centers in both Macon and Warner Robins.

Stuckey joined the Central Georgia Cancer Care (CGCC) team with a wealth of knowledge and experience across the country in the field. She has been an Oncology Certified Nurse since 2008 and started her journey with CGCC in May of 2022 as Clinical quality and data manager. She was quickly promoted to Clinical Nurse Director at CGCC due to her dedication to the nurses and patients.

Stuckey started her oncology career at Dekalb Medical Center in 2005 as staff nurse in the outpatient infusion center, and was promoted to clinical coordinator and then manager of the outpatient infusion center at Dekalb. While there, she was nominated for the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Nursing Excellence Award in 2014. Then in 2015, she relocated to the Seattle, Washington area where she worked as clinical office nurse for a medical oncologist at Swedish Cancer Institute. Then in 2017, she moved to upstate South Carolina where she worked for an internal medicine office. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Western Governors University.

When asked why she chooses to work in oncology, she says, “If I can provide a glimpse of sunshine to a patient and their family in what may be their darkest moments, then I have succeeded. Sometimes all it takes is a smile, a pat on the back or gentle reassurance.”
