Abshire PR is excited to welcome Katie Acken, as one of our Summer Interns!
Katie Acken is a rising junior at the University of Alabama, originally from Morristown, New Jersey, and currently living in Okatie, South Carolina. She is majoring in Public Relations with double minors in History and Political Science.
At Alabama, Katie is actively involved in campus life. She serves as a junior strategist for the university’s prestigious student-run communications firm, Capstone Agency, is a representative on her sorority’s leadership and nominating committee, mentors students through the Honors College, and volunteers to help local elementary school students learn to read. Through these experiences, Katie has discovered not only her love for collaboration and problem-solving, but also how essential they are to achieving positive outcomes.
Katie previously interned with the Tuscaloosa location of Chicken Salad Chick, where she managed their social media accounts, an experience that confirmed her love for being the “idea girl.” She is especially passionate about the strategic and writing components of Public Relations and looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in both during her time at Abshire PR. Katie is extremely excited to work with and learn from the Abshire PR team this summer!
