Our team had the most fabulous time this week at the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s annual Women Who Rule luncheon celebrating women’s achievements and raising funds for the Women United Transportation Fund. This fund aims to help women and caregivers in our community obtain dependable transportation and assist with essential needs like car repairs, gas cards, and bus passes. More than one thousand people attended the 2025 event. Collectively, the event raised over $105,000 this year to support women in our community!

The event honored community leader and dedicated United Way supporter, Stacy Jennings, as the 2025 United Way “Woman of the Year.” Stacy is the Executive Director of Communications for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. Prior to her current role, she was the Director of Marketing at the Savannah Morning News/Savannah Evening Press. She holds a BA in English from the Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University. Since moving to Savannah in 1985, Stacy has been an active community member, serving on numerous boards and committees. For more than 33 years, Stacy has been a dedicated United Way of the Coastal Empire supporter, serving on the Board of Directors, Marketing Committee (Marketing Chair), Campaign Cabinet, and as a Loaned Executive. She currently serves on the Marketing Committee and has for decades.

Finally, we’d like to congratulate our own United Way “Roadies”, Jennifer Abshire and Susan Hancock, who served on the event committee and helped plan this incredible event! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication to celebrating the amazing women in our community.

We can’t wait to see what the 2026 United Way Women Who Rule campaign can achieve for deserving women across our region!
