APR Supports United Way’s 2024 Women Who Rule Campaign!
Our team had the most fabulous time this week at the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s annual Women Who Rule luncheon celebrating women’s achievements and raising funds for the Women United Transportation Fund. This fund aims to help women and caregivers in our community obtain dependable transportation and assist with essential needs like car repairs, gas cards, and bus passes. More than one thousand people attended the 2024 event. Collectively, the event raised an astounding $91,500 for the fund, with a staggering $27,500 raised at the luncheon alone!
During the event, community leader Carol Bell was named “Woman of the Year” and celebrated for her long legacy of service to the community. Bell was the first African-American board chair at the United Way of the Coastal Empire in 1998, and broke barriers in 1976 as the first Black woman to serve as manager for the City of Savannah. Congratulations, Carol! Our team at Abshire PR is continually amazed by her humility, leadership, kindness and dedication to serving the people of our community. We can’t think of a more deserving person for this honor!
Finally, we’d like to congratulate our own United Way “Roadies”, Jennifer Abshire and Susan Hancock, who served on the event committee and helped plan this incredible event! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication to celebrating the amazing women in our community.
We can’t wait to see what the 2025 United Way Women Who Rule campaign can achieve for deserving women across our region!
