Historic Savannah Foundation Solicits Submissions from Students for 2018 Savannah Preservation Festival Poster

Historic Savannah Foundation, a leading preservation organization committed to preserving and protecting Savannah’s heritage, recently announced it is soliciting submissions from Chatham County students for the official 2018 Savannah Preservation Festival poster.

HSF’s Preservation Festival Poster Contest for elementary, middle, and high school students in Savannah and Chatham County encourages students to highlight local treasures which evoke that special sense of Savannah. Contestants are encouraged to submit creative and original posters with vibrant images that celebrate our community’s important historic places (i.e., buildings, streetscapes, squares, the riverfront, and architectural details).

The deadline for submission is Friday, April 14, 2017. Entries will be displayed and judged at HSF’s Preservation Festival Block Party on May 13, 2017 (free and open to the public) at Guerry Lumber, 123 W. 44th St, Savannah, GA 31405. A poster from each category will be selected for first place and runner-up. The first place winners will receive a certificate of accomplishment and a $50 cash prize. The runners-up will receive a certificate of accomplishment and a $25 cash prize. Additionally one poster will be selected by HSF to be used as the “cover image” and other promotional purposes for HSF’s 2018 Preservation Festival. HSF reserves the right to edit artwork as necessary for these promotional purposes.

“Preservation is not just about saving individual landmarks, but about protecting a quality of life realized through neighborhood revitalization. Savannah enjoys irreplaceable places such as our world-famous historic squares, canopy trees, and three centuries of vernacular architecture. Our annual Savannah Preservation Festival ignites interest in the why’s and how’s of preservation through a variety of programs at a variety of venues,” said Daniel Carey, president and CEO of HSF. “Pres Fest is a great way to engage the next generation in preservation.”
