The DeSoto Hotel Donates Furnishings to Three Local Organizations

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Desoto, a 127-year-old hotel currently undergoing renovations, recently donated furnishings to the Catholic Diocese of Savannah, Savannah Baptist Center, and Bethesda Academy.

“As we are going through these renovations, we certainly wanted to make sure the furnishings were sent to groups in our community that could benefit from having them,” said Jeff Kmiec, managing director of The Desoto. “Part of our company philosophy is to not only be a part of the community, but to help make a difference when we have the opportunity.”

The DeSoto is undergoing a massive, multimillion-dollar renovation and total restructuring of offerings and services in 2017. The DeSoto now features a number of new upgrades to its 246 guestrooms, a new terrace pool and cabana bar, a gourmet-to-go coffee bar, and two new chef-driven restaurants, Edgar’s Proof & Provision and the 1540 Room.

Located at 15 E. Liberty St., The DeSoto is nestled in the heart of Savannah, Georgia’s historic district where genuine southern hospitality meets a personalized boutique hotel experience. The original DeSoto opened its doors on New Year’s Eve in 1890 and today stands as an extraordinary 246-room iconic hotel long considered a fixture in gracious service and southern hospitality in the community. The newly-renovated property is within walking distance to historic squares and museums, locally owned boutiques, flavorful culinary experiences, unique art galleries, and the city’s largest green space at Forsyth Park.
