As veterans in the PR business, we never really get over the satisfied high that comes when one of our clients lands in a well-read national magazine.
So imagine our delight when Tybee Island was honored as one of five “Perfect Little Beach Towns” in the June 2012 issue of Southern Living, a celebrated national magazine highlighting the beauty and culture of the South and reaching over 15 million devoted readers.
In a travel section spotlighting the “Best of the South,” the article celebrates Tybee’s laid-back lifestyle and all-American style:
“If you want to see how Tybee rolls, rent a pastel beach cruiser from Fat Tire Bike Rentals,” the article enthuses. “It comes with a cupholder on the handlebars for your (legal) frosty beer, which likely won’t spill, so flat is the land and scarce are the cars. You’ll need just one gear to cruise at the pace of this classic, family-friendly island.”
The article recommends The Lighthouse Inn Bed & Breakfast, Tybee Cottages, The Tybee Island Lighthouse and the McQueen’s Lighthouse Historic Trail as well as local restaurants like A-J’s Dockside Restaurant, North Beach Bar & Grill, Sundae Café and Tradewinds Ice Cream.
At Abshire PR, one of our primary goals is to connect our clients with their their target audiences across a broad range of media channels. We’re proud to say, we hit our target with this one. Southern Living really captured Tybee Island in a nutshell!
