“A Race to Capture a Bounty From Shipping”
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been astutely aware of the six feet of mud taking over conversations just about everywhere in Savannah. In fact, I’ve paid close attention as Georgia officials furiously work to capture the support of local citizens and hopefully federal government money and it seems so has the nation. Savannah is soaking up the spotlight as we face one of the most important decisions that will likely affect generations to come.
Excellent article written by Severson for The New York Times this past Sunday, December 12, 2010, detailing the players, the motives and the bounty to be had. A must read if you’re a Savannah local.
