This week at Abshire PR, we are meeting with our new friend Seth Michalak, a social media and marketing communications professional, of SM Consulting at one of our new favorite places ThincSavannah. We’ve planned a sort of creative technology summit with Seth, where we plan to hang him upside down and shake all of his secret new media strategies from him. I kid.
No, we’d never really do that to Seth – but we are looking forward to hammering out the details of our new social media strategies that we’ve been working on with SM Consulting over the past two months for Abshire PR’s ten year anniversary next year. This particular meeting should be very interesting and definitely motivating for our team as we look ahead to next year’s milestone.

A self-proclaimed “geek since before it was cool to be one,” Seth has made a career of being an early adopter of new technology and gadgets. He was one of the creative forces behind Balaya, an innovative communications hub developed to organize web content and group conversations into one secure manageable channel for businesses.
Seth’s M.O.: crafting “techy” messages that help “people better understand a situation” displayed throughout a variety of SM outlets. The same theory applies to PR, which includes telling the story of a particular situation as it pertains to a particular client in the best possible creative light.
So in essence, the combined effect of creating intelligent, compelling content dispersed among an array of specially chosen social media outlets (Seth’s department) + astute business strategy and use of creative traditional media outlets (Abshire PR’s department) = one brilliant combination (if I do say so myself).
Over the last two months, we’ve formed a symbiotic relationship with Seth and worked through what we like to call a “continued education” course for both parties involved. It’s an amazing experience when creative forces mix and muddy-up the usual train of thought. In both of our businesses, continued efforts of self-education and innovative partnerships are essential to opening new doors of opportunity. It’s all about treading in unfamiliar waters that lead to the sketchy paths of new discoveries.
If you’ve made any new partnerships that shattered your glass ceiling, please share them with us. We’d love to hear about your success.
