Troubled Waters

TROUBLED WATERS?
Charting a Creative Course for the future

SEDA plans to keep organization specializing in knowledge based businesses afloat but is anxious for the group to move toward sailing on its own.

We’ve only just begun…

Interesting article in BIS (Business in Savannah) about the Creative Coast Alliance and its future. The Alliance was instituted for the right reasons – taking Savannah into the forefront of a knowledge based market region. Why stop a forward-moving vision? It’s simple – hold on to the vision, create more opportunities for funding.

Here’s why the Creative Coast Alliance started: To create, grow and attract higher wage jobs and knowledge based businesses. Become a center for these businesses.

Here’s how it should continue: Have SEDA (Savannah Economic Development Authority) run the Creative Coast Alliance with half the budget with the remaining funds by profit from entrepreneurial efforts (monetized website, paid advertising, employment center, educational opportunities, events). This will feed the economy from both directions – supporting our industry to existing businesses and having the best website in town by attracting new talent.

Let’s continue to create the culture and feed the economy. A win/win situation for the entire Creative Coast.
