Hilton Head, South Carolina (February 1, 2010) – Hilton Head Island Art Festival at Shelter Cove Harbour returns to Hilton Head Island, May 29 – 30, with an eclectic mix of the country’s top established artists as well as new and emerging talent. The artistic media represented include paintings, life size sculptures, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and ceramics. This first-class art affair appeals to families, art enthusiasts and serious art buyers hoping to enhance their collections. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $20,000 metal sculptures. Admission is free and open to the public.
“We are a national touring art festival company based in South Florida with customers from all over the country. We came to Hilton Head for the first time last year after many requests from some of our best clients,” says festival promoter Howard Alan. “We are happy to bring an event of this caliber to Hilton Head Island and thrilled it is now an annual tradition.”
“We’re thrilled to host the Hilton Head Island Art Festival again this year at Shelter Cove,” said Bret Martin, vice president of operations at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C. “This event delighted residents and visitors last year with a wide range of talent. Shelter Cove Harbour will once again serve as an ideal location to showcase original work by talented artists and artisans from around the country.”
The festival gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work and make their businesses grow; many have given up professional careers, trading in their dress shoes for sandals. The artists, local merchants, restaurants and hotels all benefit from the festival, which drives additional guests and dollars to the community. Howard Alan, founder of Howard Alan Events, advocates the importance of supporting the arts and artists because this in turn helps the local economy. “Art is a tangible investment that you can enjoy as it appreciates in value,” explains Alan. He admits that while people may be more conservative in their buying habits, holding off on exotic vacations and new cars, they are still treating themselves to jewelry and art.
The artists will line Shelter Cove Harbour with their gallery style display booths transforming this popular waterfront shopping and dining destination into a high end outdoor art gallery. All of the artists will be present for the duration of the show allowing the public a wonderful opportunity to interact with them and discuss their creations and inspiration.
The artists were juried by an independent panel of expert judges, and hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of the artwork is original and handmade in America. The Hilton Head Island Art Festival at Shelter Cove Harbour makes the arts accessible to a broad audience.
